I sobbed all the way through Daniel's 1st death (the most real - from radiation), and was so pleased they figured out a way to keep him in the series as well as to bring him back. Every time.
I also cried when Sam's father died; I liked his character, too. And when Dr. Janet Frazier was killed in action, I was not only cried, but was also angry and sad. It seems just plain stupid to get rid of a character who fits in so nicely with the rest of the cast, who doesn't want to leave the show, but who gets the ax just to stir things up. I miss her. No one they've had take the place of the doctor has had her warmth, caring, or level of competence. It was a bad call to get rid of her; they haven't been able to come close to replacing her. Even if Lexa Doig IS married to Michael Shanks she just doesn't fit in the way Janet did.
Put in the position of having to choose my favorite character, however, my choice is Teal'c. He's so buff, but beyond that, I love his relationship with his mentor, Master Bra'tac. I love his facial expressions - he's also got the greatest range of "I'm going to kill you" looks of anyone I've ever seen. I just love the character. My vote is for him.

I sobbed over Daniels first death as well very very sad! in fact i can hardly watch that episode as it still makes me sad  lol When Janet died i was shocked! And yes i cried again! |

My favourite lead characters are Sam and Teal'c - especially in eps like New Order, Heroes, Paridise Lost; that kinda thing. My favourite guest starring characters have to be Jacob, Janet, Marty and Ry'ac, not forgetting Felger and Dr Lee. On the topic of Daniel (swoon), i think he's great and that all the sg1 members bring their special quirks to their relationships, but Danny. all his deaths leave me heartbroken, and in the case of in Season 8 i was kinda freaked out... anyway i love Danny, too.... does he have a fanclub?  jk! |

It used to be Daniel but when he turned into Action Jackson I stopped liking him. I liked his Archaeology-side better than his action-side.
Second came Janet, together with Daniel, she was part of the fave character circle, until they killed her off.
In season 6, Jonas Quinn was my fave.
After they killed Janet in Heroes, I didn't have a favorite character anymore. It's also around that time that I stopped writing fanfic for SG1.
And then come season 9 and 10 -> Vala as my fave, way ahead of all the others. Okay, Cam coming close second, but Vala definitely fave.

I loved when Vala came on the show. One of my favorite episodes from season 9 is the one when they try to find out how to "unlink" Daniel and Vala and Vala has to go with Daniel when he testifies for the congressman. She's just so different from the other characters - and funny. Her hair used to drive me crazy tho - Grown women just shouldn't wear pigtails (I know it's shallow but there it is). |
